The Trump administration is pressuring Korea to put up $350 billion in cash. It also seeks to take most of the investment returns. This has sparked public outrage in Korea, and many on the left regard the U.S. demand as plunder and are arguing for defending the national interest. Yet the Lee Jae-myung administration, while looking bewildered, is reluctant to halt cooperation with the United States.
Why do the Lee Jae-myung administration and bosses go on with accepting the demand? Should the left support Korean capitalism in the face of U.S. plunder?
