Recently, president Lee Jae Myung ordered that the three mega-projects be pushed through “blitzkrieg-style.” Critics have pointed to the environmental impact and deteriorating working conditions that this unprecedented total mobilisation of state and capital will entail, yet the government insists it is an indispensable strategy for growth and security in a “inter-state competition.” Major states around the world are likewise organising massive investments in AI.
We will discuss how to understand these shifts and how ordinary people, including workers, should view the mega-projects.
