In France, after the fascist National Rally won big in the recent European Parliament election, hundreds of thousands of people protested in the streets and the New Popular Front has been formed. What is a popular front, and is it an effective response to fascism? We'll look at attempts at new popular fronts in France and elsewhere today, and reflect on the lessons of how the popular front of the 1930s ended up, with a focus mainly on France.
