무슬림을 광신도, 잠재적·실재적 테러리스트로 여기는 편견이 널리 퍼져 있습니다. 서구의 가치가 합리성, 개인 자유, 여성의 권리인 데 반해 이슬람의 가치는 미개성, 폭력, 성차별이라고 주장하죠. 우파는 물론이고, 많은 자유주의자들과 일부 좌파도 이슬람주의를 모종의 우파로 여깁니다.
이슬람 혐오는 지난 30년 동안 서구에서 점점 심해졌고, 이제 한국도 비슷해지고 있습니다. 이슬람 혐오는 무엇이 문제이고, 어디서 비롯하고 왜 증대하고 있는지, 왜 반대해야 하는지 살펴보려 합니다.

There is a widespread prejudice that views muslims as fanatics or as potential or actual terrorists. It is argued that Western values are rationality, individual freedom, and women's rights, while Islamic values are primitiveness, violence, and sexism. Not only the right-wing but also many liberals and even some leftists consider Islamism as a kind of right-wing ideology.
Islamophobia has intensified in the West over the past 30 years, and now the situation is becoming similar in South Korea. We'll look at what is problematic about Islamophobia, where it originates, why it is increasing, and why we must oppose it.
